Description
Tigers on Fire, Tiger Saw's fourth album, sees the Massachusetts-based musical collective expanding their sound to explore basement soul, back porch stompers, breezy sambas, and bedroom hymns. On this recording, the band utilized a four-person horn section, as well as a wide range of special guest vocalists and players.
Founded in Hollywood, CA in 1999 by Dylan Metrano, Tiger Saw is an ever-changing group of friends, whose ranks can vary to form a quiet duo or a fifteen-person orchestra incorporating piano, cello, horns, percussion, and a small choir. Their simple, heartfelt songs celebrate friendship, community, the beauty of everyday life and love in all its forms.
On Tigers on Fire, Metrano's writing explores of the joy he's found in soul music, basement dance parties, house shows and the electricity of attraction. Other songs contemplate mortality, long-distance romances and the lives of German prostitutes.
Tiger Saw has toured extensively in North America and Europe with Kimya Dawson, Jason Anderson, Castanets, Picastro, Little Wings and many others. They are known for playing unorthodox venues from beach bonfires to treetop sing-alongs, as well as basements and barrooms from coast to coast.
