Description
The New York Times: "Lori Lieberman possesses one of the most attractive and unusual voices- a relaxed, rich contralto that she uses with a real feeling for ballads."
"Lori Lieberman is an inspiration". Billboard Magazine
Lori Lieberman's "Home Of Whispers" was originally released in 1996, and ranks among her finest works. Hailed by critics as the "definitive audiophile recording", it was recorded live with an orchestra, featuring Dean Parks, Paulhino De Costa, Chuck Delmonico, Bob Mann, Monty Byrum, and the Gay Men's Chorus, to name a few. It was the Midnight Special's number one favorite of that entire year. "Girl Writing A Letter", adapted from William Carpenter's prize winning poem, was recorded by Amanda McBroom, and weaves the haunting tale of a love discovered within the canvas at the Gardner Museum. Christine Lavin chose "Let The Rain Come Down" among her compilation CD, "The Stealth Project".
The songs, composed by Lori Lieberman, are rich in lyric and in tone, both sophisticated and pure. From the single guitar on "Circling Of The Souls", to the lush "Home Of Whispers", this CD is a beautiful, astonishing achievement.
